Scottish Rural Equality Network (SREN) National Conference

Wednesday 16th June 2010 09.30 – 16.30

A ‘virtual’ conference using V3 technology linking local discussions on social inclusion in local communities
Chaired by Morag Redwood, Project Leader Highlands & Islands Equality Forum, Scottish Council for Voluntary Organisations

Are you interested, or already involved, in ensuring that the whole diversity of people are fully included in your local community?
Would you benefit from learning what similar groups and individuals are doing around rural Scotland?
Want to hear of exciting new ways to involve your local community?

This is an opportunity for you to link up with people from across rural Scotland and take part in a groundbreaking national event without having to leave your own area! What will the conference include?

  • Refresh learning about rural identity and who are included or excluded in our local communities.
  • Learn useful new ideas and methodologies from key speakers
  • Hear successful case studies of local community action from around rural Scotland.
  • Hold your own local discussions on these issues.
  • Link up with other people and groups across rural Scotland.Where is it taking place? Everywhere!

The event’s central ‘hub’ and speakers will be in Inverness, but everything will be filmed and broadcast live across rural Scotland using specifically designed internet technology. We’ll link up with three or four areas who will broadcast their own local case studies, and there will be an opportunity for all groups taking part to break off into their own local discussions. You’ll also be able to make contact with the conference – and with other delegates - to ask questions and give feedback via the V3 technology and the SREN Online Discussion Forum. Sound complicated? Don’t worry, it’s really easy to take part and we’ll explain how it all works before the event. All you need is a broadband internet connection and PC or Laptop.

How do I get involved? Choose to -

  • Organise your own local event to link up with the conference on the day.
  • See if there is an event already planned in your area that you can attend.
  • Just log in to watch the conference from your own computer.
  • If the timing is no good for you, don’t worry. The event will be available to watch on the internet anytime after the day. You could even organise a local meeting to watch the event and hold your own discussions at a later date that suits your area.

You may have already been in contact with us to express your initial interest in this event. Now, to formally register your interest, please click on the link below to complete our Survey Monkey registration form:
